Civic engagement at the MFR of Gionges x MFR Polynesia

Focus on the project MFR Gionges : for a Civic Engagement of Young People Outside their Territory

The Erasmus+ youth application of the MFR of Gionges, selected for the project "For a Civic Engagement of Young People Outside their Territory", is in line with the initiatives led by the MFRs of French Polynesia (Huahine and Rurutu) and the creation of the Gionges Youth CouncilThis project aims to get young people on the Council thinking about their power to act and their role as young rural people, French and European citizens, while raising their awareness of current environmental, social and political issues.

Activities and meetings will be organized between young people from the Gionges and Polynesia delegations, as well as with local elected officials and the Board of Directors. A stay in French Polynesia will allow young people to discover the reality of young Polynesian rural people and to participate in the General Assembly of the Polynesian MFR federation. Upon their return, they will consider concrete actions to promote their experience and formulate proposals to the Board of Directors.

Zoom on the Erasmus Polynesia project : a self-determined Polynesian youth to get involved in European practices

This project aims to offer young people from the Rural Family Homes (MFR) of Polynesia the opportunity to express their needs to decision-makers, thus promoting regular dialogue between these young people and the authorities. By raising awareness of European values among the most disadvantaged young people, the aim is to strengthen their sense of belonging to European citizenship while promoting their Polynesian identity and culture.

The project aims to develop their self-determination, by preparing them and actively involving them so that they become a force for proposals. Through four activities, young people will be able to participate in decision-making processes, while decision-makers will be encouraged to structure lasting relationships with them, in particular via the creation of a youth council in the MFR Polynesia network. For professionals, this project will allow the integration of innovative approaches based on the structured dialogue. Finally, this initiative is intended to be sustainable, encouraging the MFRs of Polynesia to continue the integration of European Youth Dialogue.
