In 2025, under the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, a wind of renewal blew through youth policies, with particular attention paid to young people in rural areas. Two major resolutions were adopted, outlining an ambitious roadmap for the years to come.
Strengthened governance for the EU Youth Dialogue
La resolution C/2025/3130 revised the guidelines for the EU Youth Dialogue, highlighting the importance of a constructive, adaptable mechanism aligned with the changing needs of young people. Key measures include:
- A direct dialogue between young people, civil society organizations and decision-makers at all levels.
- Regular consultation with young people on issues that concern them.
- A permanent partnership in the governance of the dialogue process.
- Recognition of the role of national working groups in the organization of consultations
A 2025-2027 work plan focused on inclusion and participation
La resolution C/2024/7438 established the work plan for the EU Youth Strategy for the period 2025-2027. This plan focuses on:
- Increasing the participation of disadvantaged youth and underrepresented groups.
- Strengthening the visibility and communication mechanisms of the EU Youth Dialogue.
- Preparing the next EU Youth Strategy beyond 2027, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
These actions aim to ensure that every young person, regardless of their background, can actively contribute to building the Europe of tomorrow.
